Choral and Band Events
Whether you have previous choir experience or just love to sing, we are always looking for new voices! The SIC Concert Choir and the SIC Community Chorus hold several performances each year in the George T. Dennis Visual & Performing Art Center. Additionally, there are a number of opportunities to perform in musicals either onstage or in the pit, or you can participate in the SIC Concert Band. Private vocal and instrumental instruction are also available.
SIC Concert Choir
The SIC Concert Choir offers students a chance to perform a wide range of repertoire from a variety of time periods and genres. All students interested in vocal music are encouraged to join. No audition is necessary, and college credit can be earned. The choir rehearses on Thursday’s from 3-4:50 p.m. in the fall and spring semesters.
SIC Community Chorus
The SIC Community Chorus is comprised of volunteers from all over southern Illinois. Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. in room F110 at SIC in Harrisburg, and it is open to singers of high school age and up. The Community Choir performs one concert each fall and spring semester, as well as a performance at May commencement exercises and occasional special performances, as well. New members are encouraged to join early each semester (August or January) by attending a rehearsal. No audition is required. You can also find them on Facebook.
SIC Community jazz Band
Open to students and community members age 16 and up, the SIC Community Jazz Band welcomes all instruments and skill levels. Rehearsals are held Monday evenings on campus and include opportunities to perform in concerts throughout the semester. Directed by Brandon Bryant, this group is fun, free to join, and focused on learning, collaboration, and community.
The band is under the direction of Mr. Brandon Bryant. The SIC Concert Band rehearses on Mondays from 7:00 - 8:50 p.m. You can also find them on Facebook.

Children’s Choir Enrollment/Parents Meeting
The SIC Children’s Choir is back this spring with director Hannah Nance, Harrisburg High School teacher, award-winning speech coach, and music director for Jr. Falcon Productions!
Whether or not your child has experience singing, all 3rd-8th grade students are welcome to join! Rehearsals will be held on Thursdays from 6:30–7:30 p.m. The children will perform a concert at the end of the semester.
SI Storytellers – Author G.E.B. Shelton
Author G.E.B. Shelton will talk about his book “Oh Wait; That Was NEVER Me!, a deeply moving memoir exploring the lasting scars of bullying, identity, and resilience. Finals Meal Sack Giveaways
SIC Student Government and Student Activities will distribute free Finals Meal Sacks to students during finals week. Each bag contains shelf-stable ingredients and instructions for a simple recipe. Several recipe options will be available.
Dates: Thursday and Friday, Dec. 11–12
Time: 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Location: In front of the cafeteria
Audience: Open to all SIC students; first come, first served.
Christmas Jubilee Concert
A holiday concert featuring classic and modern Christmas music performed by the Southeastern Illinois College Community Chorus, directed by Tim Green and accompanied by Kathy Hanrahan. Dickens carolers will also perform.
The Christmas Jubilee fundraiser supports local nonprofits, including Saline County Outreach, Via Dolorosa Recovery Center, and Christian Community Compassion Center.
Dates & Times:
• Friday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
• Saturday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m.
Location: Little Chapel Church Auditorium, 3859 State Highway 34 North, Harrisburg, Illinois
Tickets: $15; free for children ages 12 and younger. Tickets are available online and at the door. Approximately 2,000 seats are available per performance.

The Learning Commons, Student Corp, and TRIO invite SIC students to make a FREE Christmas Wreath in the Learning Commons! This is a great opportunity to make a gift for a special someone in your life or to make a holiday decoration for your own door!

SIC Children's Choir
The SIC Children’s Choir is a joyful opportunity for students in grades 3–8 who love to sing! Directed by Hannah Nance — a Harrisburg High School teacher, award-winning speech coach, and music director for Jr. Falcon Productions — this ensemble focuses on learning music in a fun, welcoming environment.
Rehearsals take place Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the SIC campus during the fall and spring semesters. Students build vocal skills, confidence, and friendships, all while preparing for a concert performance at the end of each season.
