Community Education
The college recognizes that education is a lifelong process and strives to meet the needs of the community and help develop the potential ability of all individuals. The college offers a variety of community education or non-credit courses. The courses are usually hobby, leisure, or non-traditional in nature and are offered in a flexible manner. They are offered at locations geographically convenient to various segments of the community including on SIC's main campus near Harrisburg, at the SIC White County Center in Carmi and various locations in Gallatin, Pope and Hardin counties. At SIC, we recognize the importance of each segment of the community to our mission and encourage interest and participation in the fulfillment of that mission through a variety of programs directed towards the adult learner.
Community Services
SIC frequently hosts seminars, workshops, and drive-in conferences for special groups and the general public. The topics range from consumer, educational, and business interests to those with more hobby or leisure time activities. The College is willing to work with outside organizations in cooperative planning and developing programs to meet their particular needs. An estimated 11,000 people utilize the College annually for different events and activities.

High School Honor Band and Choral Festival
SIC will host its first High School Honor Band and Choir Festival, bringing together outstanding vocalists and instrumentalists from SIC-district high schools for a day of collaboration and music-making.
The festival will culminate in a public concert at 5 p.m., showcasing the talents of up to 24 students from each participating school.
Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.
B.A.S.I.C. Meeting
B.A.S.I.C. (Brothers and Sisters In Christ) is a student-led group dedicated to faith, fellowship, and personal growth. Whether you’re looking for encouragement, meaningful discussions, or a supportive Christian community on campus, this is the place for you!
See You At The Pole
Location: the flagpole is located in front of E/F building past the South Entrance
What it is: A worldwide day of student-initiated and student-led prayer at school flagpoles.
Constitution Day
September 17 is Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, commemorating the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. Stop by the Learning Commons to pick up a free pocket edition of the Constitution.

CPR Class – Basic Life Support Certification
BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification classes will be held at SIC in room T224. These one-day, 4-hour classes are open to the public and cover CPR training.
Participants will complete a 25-question exam and receive a certification card.

SIU-C Representative on Campus
An SIU-C representative will be on campus in A/B lobby from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. for students planning to transfer to SIU.
