Community Education
The college recognizes that education is a lifelong process and strives to meet the needs of the community and help develop the potential ability of all individuals. The college offers a variety of community education or non-credit courses. The courses are usually hobby, leisure, or non-traditional in nature and are offered in a flexible manner. They are offered at locations geographically convenient to various segments of the community including on SIC's main campus near Harrisburg, at the SIC White County Center in Carmi and various locations in Gallatin, Pope and Hardin counties. At SIC, we recognize the importance of each segment of the community to our mission and encourage interest and participation in the fulfillment of that mission through a variety of programs directed towards the adult learner.
Community Services
SIC frequently hosts seminars, workshops, and drive-in conferences for special groups and the general public. The topics range from consumer, educational, and business interests to those with more hobby or leisure time activities. The College is willing to work with outside organizations in cooperative planning and developing programs to meet their particular needs. An estimated 11,000 people utilize the College annually for different events and activities.
