SIC Forensic Falcons Named Harper Tournament Champions

SIC’s Forensic Falcons took top honors at last weekend’s Harper College invitational in Palatine, Ill., earning both the overall team championship and six individual event titles. Southeastern also earned the individual events championship and quality award at the tournament for having the highest percentage of finalists per entries.

With 454 tournament points, Southeastern finished 310 points ahead of the second place team from the College of DuPage. Casper College, Prairie State College, and Illinois Central College rounded out the top five schools.

Sophomore Corrine McDaniel was named the individual sweepstakes champion at the tournament for earning the best results of any competitor at the tournament. “This tournament has shown me that hard work really does pay off,” McDaniel noted.

Meredith Wolf of Harrisburg – Tournament champion in dramatic interpretation, 3^rd in individual sweepstakes, 3^rd in communication analysis, 4th in duo interpretation (with Comer)

Hannah Rudin of St. Louis – Tournament champion in poetry, 2^nd in duo interpretation (with Hanks), 5^th in group communication, 5^th in individual sweepstakes

Sarah Birkla of Crossville – Tournament champion in program oral interpretation, 3^rd in duo interpretation (with Ingram), 5^th in speech to entertain, 7^th in individual sweepstakes

Benjamin McGuire of Eldorado – Tournament champion in extemporaneous speaking, 2^nd in impromptu speaking

Zachary Hanks of Harrisburg – 2^nd in dramatic interpretation, 2^nd in duo interpretation (with Rudin)

Tre Ingram of Harrisburg– 2^nd in program oral interpretation, 3^rd in duo interpretation (with Birkla)

Jeremiah Brown of Harrisburg – 3^rd in dramatic interpretation, 3^rd in persuasive speaking, 4^th in prose interpretation

Nicole York of Shawneetown – 3^rd in extemporaneous speaking, 5^th in communication analysis

Dylan Comer of Carrier Mills – 4th in duo interpretation (with Wolfe), 4^th in dramatic interpretation, 5^th in poetry

Hannah Rodgers of Harrisburg – 6^th in poetry, 6^th in persuasive speaking

The Forensic Falcons travel next to the state tournament as they continue preparing for the Phi Rho Pi national tournament April 7-12 in Denver, Colo.
